As the seasons change, so must our menus. Even though I love the fall (It’s my favorite time of year.), there is a part of me that hates to see summer go. However, with this vanilla pear cocktail, I’m able to hold onto the freshness of summer while welcoming the rich flavor of fall with open arms. And that, my friends, is a wining combination.
The base of this cocktail is pear juice. I was lucky enough to find some perfectly ripe pears at the grocery store, so I just extracted the juice in my juicer. If you don’t have a juicer, don’t worry, pear nectar will suit this recipe just fine.
In addition to the pear nectar, this cocktail comes together with only two other ingredients – pear vodka and vanilla paste. In case you’ve never heard of vanilla paste, it’s basically just a thicker version of vanilla extract that contains the seeds from the vanilla beans. It’s incredibly rich and delicious.
To make this cocktail extra special, I started off with these gorgeous monogrammed double old-fashioned glasses. When entertaining, there’s nothing more personal than a monogram. I rimmed the glasses with some lemon juice, then dipped each in coarse sugar to add a bit of sweetness and sparkle.
To keep the drinks nice and cool, I used this colossal ice cube. It’s such an unexpected touch in a cocktail and really does its job.
With the glasses ready, the ingredients where blended in a cocktail shaker and poured into the glasses. I garnished each drink with a straw and slice of fresh pear.
And that’s it!
A deliciously refreshing cocktail to end the summer and welcome the fall. Perfection.
