Signs of spring have finally arrived in our part of the country. Warmer temperatures, hints of green, and longer days have me beyond excited to start planning a few seasonally inspired get-togethers. To make spring parties as stress free as possible, I thought I’d share a few quick tips.
Keep it Simple
While we may want to plan the most elaborate parties, usually simple is best. Limit your menu, decorations, and even your guest list. With fewer things to plan, buy, and cook, entertaining becomes much less of a fuss.
Make It Personal
When purchasing décor and supplies for your parties, mix in a few reusable items that you’ll want to keep for years to come. When I’m looking for these items, I want ones that are truly special and unique. Personalization is sure to add memorable detail to any party.
Host a Potluck
Who says the host needs to cook everything? Have a potluck and ask everyone to bring a favorite dish! Often the host prepares the main dish and the guests supply the sides.
Take It Outside
‘Tis the season to head outdoors. Take advantage of the warmer weather and hold your party on the porch or deck. After spring cleaning, you don’t want your work quickly undone when Uncle Bob spills a plate of food on the floor. Keep the mess outside.
Try a Tasting Party
Putting together a menu can be one of the hardest parts of planning a get-together. Limit your choices by hosting a tasting party. Whether it’s cheese, beer, or even pizza, offering multiple varieties of that one item is a fun way to get your guests to try new and different things.
Lighten up the Menu
Given that bathing suit season is just around the corner, try lightening up your menu a bit. Use in-season fruits and veggies to create a beautiful yet delicious spread.
Create a Signature Cocktail
While it’s tempting to stock your bar with every drink ingredient imaginable, save time and money by having a cocktail created just for your event. Not only will this limit your stress on the day of the party, but it will also ensure that your party is one of a kind. Send your guests home with the recipe as a parting gift.
And that’s it, friends. These seven tips will allow you to actually enjoy your fabulous get-togethers instead of worrying about them. Happy spring!
