Well friends, summer is officially here, and I couldn't be more excited. I'm taking advantage of every opportunity to spend time outside and soak up these beautiful summer days. One thing I especially love to do is dine al fresco. Whether it's a picnic in the yard, a BBQ on the deck, or an afternoon on the porch, I'm all about outdoor entertaining.

Today, using my fabulous picnic basket for four, I set up a little party on the porch for a few of my dearest friends. With wine, some snacks, and a gorgeous, great-tasting cake, it was the recipe for a perfect summer afternoon.

As my friends can attest, I’m obsessed with this party basket. It seriously makes outdoor entertaining a breeze. Complete with plates, napkins, utensils, a table cloth, and the most adorable little mason jar glasses, it really is a party in a basket. Just add food and wine.

Even though that covers most of the event, I do have a few other details that are a must whether you entertain inside or out.

First, flowers. Snip a few from your yard, grab a bouquet at the grocery store, or make a mix of both (which is what I did). Flowers add color, life, and beauty to any party.

I also love candles. Even if it’s just one, a candle helps set the mood and make even the most basic get together feel special.

Music is also a must! Artists like Mumford and Sons or Adele are some of my favorites for a party. It’s easy listening, and most people seem to enjoy them.

Once all of these elements are in place, I always like to remind myself to relax. It’s important for the host to have fun, too.

So grab yourself a basket of goodies and get out to enjoy this beautiful time of year. What fun outdoor entertaining plans do you have for this summer?
