Successful NYC model Carol Perkins thought she lost everything after she found herself with a rare brain tumor. Debilitated, homebound and isolated, her old life of glamour came to a sudden stop. But out of the ashes, a new life began with a pet project. Having tons of time on her hands in recovery, she used those hands to combine her love for dogs and sewing.
Carol started making custom dog beds, toys and robes for friends. Word spread around NYC and beyond. And what first started as a therapeutic hobby, turned into a major second career. Carol launched her new company and it shot to success. In honor of her Sheltie canine companion, she named it Harry Barker.
Guided by the belief that pets are less animal and more family member, Harry Barker sticks to a higher standard — producing only premium quality products that are both pet- and eco-friendly. Not content with just using 100% recycled materials, earth-friendly fabrics and dyes and biodegradeable materials, Harry Barker even employs a third party inspection agency to ensure that all products are safe, green and consistently impeccable in quality. They also support Canines for Veterans, offering gift sets that help fund the organization's work providing wounded service members with service dogs.
