After a long winter springtime holidays and events on the horizon, I thought it would be fun to share some tips for stress-free entertaining. I realize that a LOT more goes into throwing a celebration, but these ideas may help you put on a party that is truly unforgettable!

1. Pick a theme. When I’m hosting a get-together, I think it’s important to always start with a theme. Once you have a theme, you can use it to guide your choices for the party. Even if the theme is just a color, it will making picking out decorations and food items that much easier. All you do is eliminate any choices that don’t fit your theme. Over the years, however, I’ve learned, that perfection is ultimately unattainable. Now, throughout the year, I collect interesting and unique things when I’m out shopping and use them when I’m entertaining or decorating. Cutting boards are now my go-to for displaying food. Their neutral surfaces let the food be the star of the show. I’m especially loving these wood pigs. Cutting boards with a personal touch are also great for entertaining. Taking time in advance to pick a menu, make your guest list, and decide on your theme, helps you plan a better party. Another quick tip for planning ahead is to think of something that you can give your guests to remember the party. Two of my go-to favors are A Year of Seeds and A Year of Candles. With twelve pieces in each set, you’ll have enough to give each guest a really special parting gift. Stress-Free Entertaining | Inspired by Charm for RedEnvelope 4. Keep things simple. As much as I want to make a big impression on guests, I often find it’s better to keep things simple. For example, I prefer to have a few really delicious and exciting food and drink options rather than having endless selections that are just ok. While food and drink are wonderful additions to a party, your guests are really there to spend time with you and share in the conviviality and good conversation. Break out the record player, put on some happy tunes, grab a glass of wine, and savor this time with the wonderful people in your life. After all, that’s what entertaining is really about. There’s no sense in doing it if you can’t enjoy the party, too! I hope you found a few of these tips helpful. Now let’s party!   Michael Wurm, Jr. is a designer and Lifestyle Blogger.
